Presbyterian Women
A morning and an evening circle meet on the second Tuesdays in homes or at church for Bible study and fellowship. Presbyterian Women meet on the third Tuesday four times a year for lunch and special programs, including an annual Prayer Retreat. The Women’s Mission group meets on the fourth Tuesday at the church for sewing, fellowship and support of community projects.
Prayer Ministry
The Church Prayer Ministry was established as an intentional action of taking specific steps to ensure that prayer is incorporated into all areas of the life and ministry of this church. We believe that God calls us to prayer to invite us into a closer relationship with Him.
The importance of corporate prayer cannot be over-emphasized. Great power is released when we, together, communicate an agenda truly from the heart of God. His anointing is there to further empower each one participating and touch their hearts.
One person has written, “Prayer is simple. It’s self-care. It has no side effects. But it requires some discipline and some surrender. Those things are hard for people to do— people who are in control of their life and don’t want to give up that control and don’t have the discipline to take the time. They aren’t aware of how powerful this little simple act is.”
On the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m., an “Evening of Prayer” is held in the Church Lounge. It is open to all—church members, visitors and strangers. As Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” (Matthew 18:20 NRSV) We meet to encourage one another to pray, silently or audibly, to sing hymns and read Bible verses, thus bringing prayer back into our own lives, the lives of our families, our church family, and our community.
Caring of Persons Ministry
Lay persons trained in care giving are available to serve as special church friends to those experiencing a troublesome life-changing event. When desired, the Ministry arranges a one-on-one relationship that complements and extends the care given by our pastor. Caregivers may visit, listen or even take you to the doctor or bring in a meal in times of illness.
Church Library
Resource books, aids to Bible study, inspirational books, fiction, audio and visual aids and Christian classics are included in our church library. New additions are made monthly and are featured as the “Book of the Month.”
Mission to the Community
Knowing that we see Jesus in the least of these, our brothers and sisters, we enthusiastically support mission opportunities in our community and encourage everyone to become involved in the following activities:
North Dallas Shared Ministries |
| |
Along with some 45 other North Dallas churches we help supply food, clothing, employment counseling, rent and utility assistance and a free clinic. Over 53,000 individuals were served last year. Many John Calvinites serve as volunteers at the Ministry. |

Food for Families Program |
| |
| Every fourth Friday on our parking lot, the North Texas Food Bank distributes food to persons whose need has been screened by faith-related agencies. Volunteers help break down bulk shipments into family sized portions and distribute them to over 100 families each month. |
